Statuettes
The MarCom statuette has long been a majestic symbol of marketing and communications achievement. The MarCom graces the trophy cases of some of the top business and communication firms in the world. In 2011, the MarCom was given an exciting, renewed look by Society Awards, a high-end design and manufacturing firm that is recreating the awards industry.
Building from the MarCom’s traditional combination of strength and finesse, Society Awards crafted a unique, modern interpretation of the venerable classic. Over the past several years, Society Awards has redesigned many of the world’s top creative awards, including The CLIOS, Golden Globes, MTV’s VMA, Academy of Country Music and American Music Awards. Society Awards brings a unique artistic perspective to awards, having designed and manufactured fashion accessories sold in high end stores such as Saks, Neiman Marcus, Nordstroms, Bergdorf Goodman and Harrods in London and Japan.
The shiny die-cast MarCom statuette stands 13 inches tall on a black nickel metal base with a personalized name plate. Each award is a highly-customized, exclusively-crafted piece of art. It takes 30 days to produce each individual statuette. The award is presented in a Tiffany-style, satin-lined, presentation box.
MarCom’s manufacturing process combines modern technology with old world craftsmanship. The mold is carved from solid blocks of hardened tool steel. Using a zinc die-casting process usually reserved for extremely precise, high volume auto engine parts, a molten zinc alloy is injected under heat and pressure. This high quality and high accuracy process is harnessed for the limited run MarCom, resulting in an award with exceptional quality and surface reflection. The award parts are finished and polished by hand, and then electroplated with 24kt gold for the gold awards and nickel-rhodium alloy for the platinum awards. Rhodium is a rare metal in the platinum family used to put a permanent non-tarnishing finish on silver jewelry. After electroplating, craftsmen manually assemble the awards and polish them again by hand.
